A Day of Inner Peace

All day courses at Bodhisattva KMC and on Zoom

On Saturday 12 September from 9:15 AM to 6:15 PM with Bertie Wilkins

A gentle way to begin your meditation journey

If you’re new to meditation – or curious but not quite sure where to start – a beginner meditation retreat is one of the best ways to begin.

Unlike a drop-in class, a short day retreat gives you the time and space to slow down, settle your mind, and really experience meditation for yourself. There’s no pressure, no expectations, and no prior knowledge needed – just a warm, supportive environment where everything is explained clearly and practiced together.

This Beginners Meditation Retreat is designed to help you feel confident, relaxed, and inspired as you take your first steps on the meditation path.

What we’ll be meditating on: Meditations for a Clear Mind

During the retreat, the guided sessions will be based on Meditations for a Clear Mind, a series of simple meditations drawn from the teachings of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.

These meditations help us explore the mind itself — its location, nature and function — and through this understanding we begin to experience a naturally clearer and more peaceful state of mind.

Throughout the day you will be guided step-by-step through meditations that help you:

Relax deeply through the Body of Light meditation, gently letting go of physical tension and mental heaviness
Experience the natural clarity of the mind through a meditation on Clarity
Discover the deeper continuity of the mind in the meditation on the Root Mind
By becoming familiar with these aspects of the mind, we begin to realise that peace and clarity are not something we have to create from outside — they are qualities that already exist within our own mind and can be uncovered through meditation.

The retreat will also include practical guidance on how to begin a meditation practice and how to maintain it in daily life, so that the experience of calm and clarity can continue long after the retreat.

These meditations are simple, practical and suitable for everyone, whether you are new to meditation or looking to deepen your understanding.

Everyone is welcome.
